KB88 Believe came about because “Believe” was a huge motto of Kyle Bennett’s. Kyle was 3-time BMX Elite Pro World Champion, USA BMX Olympian, BMX Hall of Fame inductee, and one of the most loved racers in the history of BMX racing. While at the top of his racing career, Kyle sustained several serious injuries that took him out of competition for quite some time. During 2012, he was on the come back and was already back on the podium, but it was a tough road to get there, not just physically, but mentally. Kyle was having to learn to believe in himself again and believe that he could compete at the highest level. This was a tough place to be in for somebody who had been at the top of their sport and had achieved so much. But, facing setbacks and adversity taught Kyle “to learn to believe more and how to believe in myself more”. He learned that “you can put in all the hard work”, but despite how well prepared you are to achieve a goal, if you don’t believe in yourself when it’s time to perform, then “99% of the time, it’s going to falter.” Kyle also had to block-out and overcome many who believed he could no longer compete. He referred to these individuals as “non-believers” and he felt you had to use them “as fuel” to “push harder”, to “believe harder” in what you’re doing. Kyle’s heartfelt message to you is... “If you want to succeed and make yourself something in what you’re doing... You have to believe!” (Kyle Bennett 1979-2012)
Proceeds from apparel in the KB88 Collection are shared with Kyle's family.
The KB88 Believe emblem symbolizes the strength that comes from believing. A shield was used in the emblem to represent protection. The shield is worn and cracked, but not broken, to reflect that it has been extensively used by a warrior in life. "Believe" is what the shield represents and what is actually protecting you. "Belief" is the most powerful weapon you have towards succeeding "in what you’re doing", as Kyle Bennett said.
Kyle's fans simply referred to him as "KB", and his racing number is 88, so these are represented in the shield. (In 2012, the international cycling authority, UCi, retired number 88 to honor Kyle and all that he achieved.) The "NB" at the top of the shield represents non-believers who don’t believe in you and want to knock you down. It’s on the shield to fully recognize that these non-believers are out there, but your belief will be used to power through them anyway - as Kyle said "use them as fuel". The flags represent that the emblem belongs to a champion.
If you follow the bible, you may recognize a similar message that God gives to us: “Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. (Isaiah 40:30-31)
